Bio
Steven Plount (b.1952) is an American artist based in the Pacific Northwest.  He is known for reductive geometric abstraction in the Romantic genres of Tonalism, Landscape, and Gestural painting developed from the 18th century through the mid twentieth century.

Plount’s work manifests decades of inquiry into the materiality of the painted object through a process of minimal abstract painting.
HIs body of work spans multiple genres in the fields of painting with oils and with watercolors. His compositional structures are imbued with the touch of hand and brush in a calligraphic and painterly manner and are achieved using sensuous color.

Plount holds a B.F.A. from Metropolitan University, Denver CO and an M.F.A. from the Pratt Institute of Fine Art, Brooklyn, NYC . He has lived and worked in West Bengal, India, New Mexico, Colorado, New York City, and currently resides in the Pacific Northwest.
